Description

ManipulateThis "A Native American Tale" contest entry. Thanks to ManipulateThis on DA. [link]

Level 4, Advanced.

Idea based off my favorite bit of modern Native American Literature: THE GRASS DANCER. It's written by Susan Power who is a Standing Rock Sioux. The book is this amazing and powerful story that crosses several different generations of Native Americans all connected by dance. It won the PEN/Hemmingway Award when it was published in 1995.

The quote is from one of the main characters. "Because I have willed it. And I am not a fairy tale." Anna Tunder (the snow queen)

This took me longer than I thought it would. ^^"

I wanted to design something that looked like it was for a high budget bad plot summer movie. I don't know why... That's just the sort of mood I was in.

I also wanted to use a white background, because everyone is creating landscapes and I wanted something that would stand out. Maybe it's not as good, but without a background the subjects have to carry the weight of the composistion.

I want to point out that the model is the same, but I wanted the top left picture to be connected with the grass dancer and they both have green eyes. The fox and the lower left model both have one blue and one green eye.

The horse seemed perfect because there is actually a character in the book called Ghost Horse.

Critiques welcome!
